Hello again everybody. I know what some of you are thinking... what happened to Gnat? Well if you had voted at least once in the past week, you would have seen this picture, and realized that I had a new look for Gnat. I rather like it, and plan to keep this as a final look. Remy has pretty much been finalized, and you'll notice some subtle changes in the way Stancie looks when she reappears. Why am I revamping the main characters now? Well, I finally think my art work is good enough that somebody might publish it. That being the case, I wanted to really perfect the way characters look. Of course now the really daunting task begins and as I redraw the entire story, one page at a time. You will notice that the new pages will gradually replace the old ones in the archives. Unless you would like otherwise, I won't post when that happens. Just check the archives now and then, and the GW Art gallery for future updates. Thanks, -C

7-26-2007

I hope everybody is having a great summer! I know I posted a picture indicating that I was going to be at Kumoricon this year, especially since it's in my back yard, but this isn't actually the case. After careful consideration, I've opted not to attend this year, but instead focus my energies on being especially prepared for next year. So for those of you who live in, or plan on visiting, the Portland area next year on Labor Day weekend, I would love to see you at Kumoricon, and look forward to meeting you in person!

2-28-2007

Woah, been a while since I've posted here... again. I hope everybody had a nice Christmas, and New Years, and Chinese New Year, or whatever else you celebrate. Since I recently purchased Front Page 2003, I decided to pick a new theme for the web page. I don't know if I'll keep it or not. There's not very much background color. There are 5 new pictures in the Art Gallery section, so if you haven't been over there in a while, you might want to check it out. You may find some pictures in that gallery missing. That's due to the fact that as my artwork gets better, I can't stand looking at the old crappy stuff. I played with changing the font on page 26, but I wasn't very happy with it, so we're back to Comic Sans MS, until I find something I like better.

11-17-2006

Well, Playstation 3 was released today in the U.S. While a few lucky souls were able to purchase theirs amid the riots and fighting for a mere $600, others will pay over $5000 for the game system on Ebay. What is the world coming to? I'll just wait for Playstation 4 to come out, and get my Playstation 3 at somebody's garage sale for twenty bucks.

11-12-2006

Why does it seem like every entry starts with "sorry I'm late"? Well I'm starting this one a little different, sorry the comic is a bit delayed... now doesn't that sound better? Ok, if I did this for a living you'd have fired me by now, but it's a side job, so it sometimes plays second fiddle to everything else happening in my life. So this week enjoy this picture I took at work, and try to figure out how to legally use this drinking fountain.

10-6-2006

I'm sorry it's a little bit late again (well technically it's still Friday on the west coast). My dad has been in town since last Thursday, and I spent the day showing him the sights, and just have been generally cramped for time all week.

For those of you new to Gnat's Wing, Chapter 1 is a prolog, or back story to everything that happens in the archives section. So if you've read the archives, this takes place before volumes one through four. Okay, so I hope that clears that up.

9-23-2006

Ok ok, I know it's not Friday. I'm sorry about that. I've been feeling kinda crappy this week with going through some medication changes, and I just didn't get it done on time. However, in order to illustrate the differences in black and white, color, and the final product you see every week, I put together a little transition for you to see the difference in quality. Hope you enjoy.

9-6-2006

Greetings everybody! WOW what a great Kumoricon! There were more than twice as many people there as last year, and I met so many new faces. I'll post my pics on the Yahoo Group, so if you're not a member yet, now's a good excuse to join!

Now you may have noticed that I have changed the update schedule once again. I'm going back to updating once a week, on Fridays. Now before you start complaining, let me explain. I figured that I really haven't been able to maintain a twice a week update schedule. So what has happened is that the updates come hit and miss, here and there, which I hate, and I'm sure you don't like either. Rather than keep us all guessing when the updates are coming, I decided that I will post updates on Friday, come hell or high water. So now you'll know when the updates are coming. You can check on Friday and you know you're getting a new picture. Pretty keen, huh? Yes, I realize that this is Wednesday, but I figured you wouldn't mind an extra comic this week. ;)

8-14-2006

Ok, I know what you're all thinking... what the hell happened to you??? Well, my family and I decided to take a little vacation to Florida to see some family, and visit Disney World. In the middle of August??? Yes, in the middle of August. When you have a wife and 8 year old at the mercy of the school calendar, you take what you can get. By the way, I met a very nice young lady named Sarah on the plane trip back to Portland this afternoon. We got to chatting, and as it turns out, she is quite a talented anime artist in her own right. I have posted her drawing of Stancie, that she did for me on the plane, in the fan art section.

Now where the hell is the update? Ok here's the deal... I am frantically getting ready for the next Kumoricon event, which is happening Sept 2-4 at the Jantzen Beach Red Lion in Portland. Oh yes, it's time for "that" again. By the way, I have a special surprise for anyone who cosplays a Gnat's Wing character. If you stop by my art table as any Gnat's Wing character, I will give you one free item of your choice, EXCEPT the Dolfie dolls that I am selling. Any t-shirt, mug, print, you name it... (but not the dolls, they sell for $60). Ok so you don't want to cosplay? Well, just mention you read this blog and I'll give you any free print. How's that for a deal? Ok I have to get back to drawing. I hope to see you there!

7-1-2006

Hiya everybody!! Stancie here! I hope everybody is having a great summer! Hey listen I'm supposed to let you know that Christopher is still alive and kicking, and still honing his artistic skills. He's also quit playing runescape, and even though his new scanner isn't here yet, he's ready to jump back into Gnat's Wing and kick bottom. I told him he'd better get me back into the script or else he's going to rue the day.

10-31-2005

Well, 2005 has just about drawn to a close. Have you made your new years resolutions yet? I've made a few new ones, myself. I hope that 2006 is kind to all of you, because 2005 was lousy for me. The good news is that I'm updating once again, after a six week hiatus. The problem is that it seems I've been a day behind. I would adjust the update schedule to Tues and Sat, but then I probably wouldn't get the updates until Wed and Sun.

I know that I have said in the past that I wouldn't do fillers. Well, as Sean Connery once said, "never say never again". Monday will be page 5, it's just not colored yet.

10-24-2005

Yes, it's me. No, I'm not dead. I know it's been two weeks since I've last updated this webpage. I can give you a long speech about everything that's been going on in my life since then, but I'll spare you the details. I have some friends, and you know who you are, that keep reminding me to update my comic. Believe me, it's on my mind every day. Well, here's to another chapter of the Gnat's Wing story. I hope you all enjoy it!

10-10-2005

Hi everybody! Hope the new page was worth the wait! Oh c'mon, you new it had to be a dream. I mean, Remy, in pink? I don't think so.

9-30-2005

Just two more pages until the end of volume 4. I also want to remind you that the Official Gnat's Wing fanart contest is still underway. You have one more month to submit your entries.

9-23-2005

Poor Remy. Open mouth, insert foot. Well, there's only 3 more pages left of volume 4. Fasten your seatbelts!

9-19-2005

Every now and then I draw a picture that knocks my socks off. Well, this is one of those pictures. I hope you all enjoy it. Just a touch of fan service.

9-12-2005

Why is it on every single sci-fi movie or show, the computer always has a pleasant female voice? Even when it's counting down to total oblivion.

9-8-2005

You know, when I sketch these pages, I pretty much have dialog in mind. Lately, however, I haven't actually been writing the words on the pages, since I've been doing the text in Photoshop. Well, this leads to me sort of mulling over the words. While I was coloring the bottom frame, I thought of the cutest phrase, 'I like being a potatoe'. I thought that was totally Remy, and I hope you like it, even if it wasn't what I originally planned.

9-6-2005

Hello everybody! I feel like I've been gone forever! Well, I just got done yesterday with Kumoricon, and I want to thank everybody who stopped by my table and said hello! I had an absolute blast! I've posted my pictures from the event on my Yahoo group site (one more reason to join, if you haven't already). It was so much fun seeing everybody that did cosplay! There was even a couple of cute girls dressed from Chobits that I talked into doing the wakey wakey exeercises!! LOL! If you've seen Chobits, then you know what I mean, it was so cute!

I'm going to get caught up on our schedule again this Thursday night, so I'll have a couple of pages "in the can". I just want to thank all of you who have been a part of Gnat's Wing, whether you're new, or have been here for two years, you're like my extended family! Thank you so much for all of your support!

-Chris

8-26-2005

Hello, again! I had a friend of mine tell me once, that comics can be a way to explore society's problems and ways to improve life as a whole. That really wasn't my intent when I started this comic. I merely wanted to entertain, in a way that I hadn't found anywhere, but really wanted to be able to read. I didn't want to write a preachy, "how the world should be", comic.

Then I had this idea for a comic showing how idiotic these reality TV shows are. I would presume that Big Brother would go on uninterrupted until 2391, which is where Gnat's Wing takes place. But then a strange thing happened. I started looking at the comic that I had drawn, and I realized that there was a message in this comic after all. Remy's so obsessed with 'reality' TV, that she's not even paying any attention to the spectacular view in the window behind her. It's sort of a metaphor for life. Sometimes we get so caught up in one thing or another, and we totally miss the beauty that is right in front of us. Deep, huh? I assure you, it was purely an accident. ;)

8-19-2005

What a wild week this has been! There has been a lot happening at work, at home, and online. The Gnats_Wing Yahoo group is really taking off! I want to welcome all of the new readers, and thank you for being a part of Gnat's Wing! If you haven't joined the group yet, I encourage you to do so. I plan on having polls and contest in the future, that will only be available to group members. Besides, you never know when I'll have a repeat of last weekend. I wasn't able to update my webpage, but group members got to see the new page before everyone else.

By the way, I have added two new links. Mystic Revolution and Property of Gwen. Go check them out, and let the artists know where you found them!

8-12-2005

It's another update! Yea! Okay, so I got this one done in the eleventh hour, again. But, I have a great start on Monday's comic already. Okay, here's a bit of GW trivia for you: After I scanned today's page, I realized that I had left some stuff out. So I had to add some elements of the page while I was coloring on the computer. There's a corner of the floor in the second frame behind Stancie's arm that needed to be extended. Also, I gave Stancie a tail in that frame. In the fourth frame, I had forgotten to draw Stancie's chair, so that had to be added as well. You can easily tell that one, because it's the only straight line on the page.

8-8-2005

Hello again. Well, I'm getting closer to getting these updates on time. The good news is that I'm getting faster. Whether or not I'm getting any better, you'll have to be the judge. Instead of spending 3 days on sketching and inking, I can now do it in 2. Instead of spending 5 hours coloring and shading, I can now do it in 2 1/2.

The tagboard is gone, and I've decided not to do a forum. But, I am going to use my Yahoo Group, which I have renamed "Gnats_Wing" (how appropriate), and will serve as a forum / tagboard. So if you want to sign up, go join the group

8-4-2005

Hi everybody! Gnat here. Wow, Chris can finally draw lips, huh? So Remy's back in uniform. Does this mean she's back on good terms with daddy? I think maybe so. Listen, there's only one month left before Kumoricon. So go buy your tickets already! They're only $35 for the whole weekend. Besides, Chris is all worried that nobody's gonna stop by his table. So surprise him, why don'tcha? Okay, take care!

Love, Gnat

8-3-2005

Monday, Friday, WEDNESDAY? What's up with the schedule? Well, it's like this: my update plan is like a weather forecast. There's a 30% chance of rain today... See, I'd like to update on Mondays and Fridays, but it doesn't always work out that way. Once a week just isn't enough, and three times a week was impossible. But, I did get two people to vote over and over again. So, rather than make you wait unitl Friday, and put Monday's in the can, I figured I'd give it to you now. Yea! Or, maybe not. You decide.

8-1-2005

Well, the tagboard's gone. I don't know what happened to those people, but it hasn't been working for several days, and it was slowing down loading the webpage. So it's outta here! Maybe I'll get a forum, but I don't know if I want to invest the time.

7-29-2005

When I started out with this picture, I thought it was the worst picture I had drawn. I wasn't feeling well on Wednesday when I started inking. My hands were shaking all over the place, I was sweating... but anyways. But now that it's all fixed up, it doesn't look too bad. Hope you're enjoying the new page as we wrap up the storyline.

7-22-2005

Hello, once again! Well, you're all probably wondering what in the heck I've been doing this past week. Okay, well, maybe you haven't, but I'm going to tell you. In addition to my grueling schedule at work (I go in at 1400 and I'm done by 1730. Hm, maybe that's not so grueling), I'm also responsible for playing dad to my 7 year old, and grandpa to my grandkids living here in Vancouver. In addition to all that, I've been catching up on yard work around the house since we've had a few nice days.

Okay, but forget all that. What I really wanted to tell you is that I registered for Kumoricon yesterday. Now this is my very first ever anime event. So I'm excited to go, but nervous because my work will also be on display. Most days I doubt that my artwork is really good enough for this, but sometimes you just have to jump in with both feet. I will tell you that some great anime fans in Anchorage have invited me to be a guest at their anime function next spring. I feel quite honored, you guys, let me tell you! Although, I don't really feel qualified to give drawing lessons. I am very excited about going back to Alaska! It's such a beautiful state!

So, this past week I've been getting artwork together, and downloading lots of pics to Cafepress. I still have no idea what to bring with me to this Portland convention. I thought I'd do 20 Kumoricon T-shirts, in addition to a few prints. I'm afraid to invest too much, in case I don't sell anything. I guess we'll see. If you're planning to be there, I'd love to hear from you! Send me an email.

7-9-2005

Hi! Remy here. Listen, I just wanted to, like let you guys know that Chris isn't like, dead or something. He's just been working really hard around the house and stuff. He even like put up some rock sheets in the garage, or something. So, like cut him some slack, because he takes this comic very seriously, and like, doesn't want to let you guys down or anything. And I told him, too, I said "hello, like Gnat and me aren't going to draw ourselves or anything! Shaa, so like, get with the program, dude." So then he says to me he wants to like, go back to updating twice a week or whatever, so he like, won't stress out or anything. So, like if you guys can hang with that, that would be totally cool! Oh, and by the way, Chris did some, like really cool bonus pictures, but you have to vote to see them. Dude, after two years he finally got my bangs the way I like them!

~hugs~ Rem

 6-13-2005

This is probably the most complex drawing I've done yet. It certainly was the most time consuming. Hence, I'm running a wee bit late. I hope you enjoy it. Check out the new fan art pic I did for Carlos at LowRoad. It's something I've been wanting to do for a long time, once I learned that we both drew comic babes named Natasha. Coincidence? Or cosmic conspiracy?

6-10-2005

Hi, everybody. I apologize for the long absence. First off, let me tell you that you guys (and girls) are the best readers ever! I have not received one single email complaining about updates. And believe me, I expected a couple. So Thanks. The past month or so has been a complete disaster. I tell you this, not to gain your sympathy, but so that you might understand why I haven't had any creative impulses.

Let me start with 2 months ago, some of you may know that my wife had a partial hysterectomy. And that only 2 weeks later, her dad passed away. Then 2 weeks ago, my dad came to visit from Phoenix (he left last Sunday). Well, last Friday, my wife left for Phoenix to watch her oldest daughter get married, and left me with our son, and one of our grandsons. Yes, I have 5 grandchildren, but that's another story. So after a disastrous weekend alone with the kids, my wife returned Sunday only to find out that her mother was in the hospital with congestive heart failure, a stroke, and an aneurysm. So she rushed off to Vegas Monday morning. Now this has left me a bit frazzled this week, topped off that it was my birthday on Tuesday, and it kinda got skipped over. Not like I really care, because birthdays don't mean what they used to.

So please be understanding that while I haven't had the time, or energy, to make any kind of updates for the last two weeks, there's good reason. Okay? Thanks.

5-18-2005

All the stuff in the background made this picture a lot more time consuming than I thought. I had most of the picture drawn an inked while I was still in Memphis, but it still didn't look like Stancie was in a store. So I just kept adding shelves, and boxes, and lumps of clothing, until I thought it looked right. Part of the challenge of being a comic artist is figuring out how much detail to add. Too much, and it looks cluttered. Not enough, and it looks empty. Hopefully I have struck the right balance between the two.

Oh, and BTW, everything went fine in Memphis. I didn't even crash the simulator, although I did blow out all three tires during an emergency landing. Which reminds me of a funny story. This morning I got to talking about my webcomic with a ramp guy at FedEx, and he asked if I drew while I was flying. I answered that I did, but I can't ink until I get back on the ground because my pens will explode. Then he said, and I quote: "wow, flying must be pretty easy if you have time to draw". Um, yeah. I once read in a flying magazine that pilots are paying attention to more pieces of information during a precision approach (to landing in weather) than a brain surgeon during an operation. I've been there (well, not the brain surgery part), and I believe it. Try to fly an ILS down to 200 feet in pouring rain while the airplane's getting kicked around in turbulence and all you have to tell you that you're in the right place are two little white needles on the panel. I earn my pay during the last 20 minutes of the flight. Yup, easy.

5-16-2005

Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm just biased. I think that first frame is the best Gnat has looked yet. I feel as though I've finally defined Gnat's look. Bout freakin' time, huh? It's only been, what, 19 months? I'm still wanting to do something with her hair. The bottom left frame underwent several revisions. I still think the button might be too big, but it is supposed to look closer than the other two. I dunno, maybe I'll make an artist out of myself, yet.

5-11-2005

Okay, first the bad news. I'm in Memphis right now, working on my annual recurrent training. I was hoping to get the next two pages done before I left, so that I could update on Wed and Fri on time. Well, I didn't get page 5 scanned like I wanted to, so you'll just have to wait until Sunday night, when I get back.

The good news is that I have a couple of pages now "in the can" so that I'll be updating on a more regular basis when I get back home. Thank you so much in advance for your patience and understanding!

5-9-2005

I hate the first frame of this picture. It looks like everything's leaning over. Oh well. The point was to poke fun at another business man whose name also starts with a 'T'. Popular TV "reality" show? Anyone?

5-6-2005

What's this? An on time update? Gasp! The horror! See that little green alien guy in the background? I've named him Sigmund. Don't ask me why.

5-4-2005

100 Pages! Wow! Well, I don't know if my art work has gotten any better, but I can tell you that it has gotten faster. I'm now down to 5 hours, start to finish. So, if I was making $20 an hour, that'd be $100 a page! Ha, ha! Yeah, right. So I hope you enjoy this, the 100th page!

5-1-2005

Wow, number 1! I wonder how long it will last? Pretty amazing though, even if it's only for a couple of days. I can say, for one brief moment, that I was there. Thanks to all of you who voted, and keep voting. I hope I can live up to your expectations, now three times a week. Enjoy!

4-25-2005

On the set of the original Star Trek, there were labels on the Jefferies tubes that read "GNDN". The inside joke was that this stood for "goes nowhere, does nothing". On the set of ST:TNG, many of the panels on the computers in the background said nonsensical things to fill space. The idea was that it looked as though important, technical things were going on, but the actual words would appear out of focus, and unreadable, to the viewers at home. When I did the panel for "Drop Shuttle Entry Procedures", I really had no idea what these procedures would be, but I figured there'd be some. Hence the sign to tell you about them. Now I figured that maybe they'd be out of focus when I reduced the image size, but you can actually make them out, if your eyes are good enough.

4-22-2005

Hello everyone! I want to thank you all so much for all of the voting! You're the best fans a comic artist could ask for. Now, about tonight's update, I don't really like it. It was rushed from beginning to end. Quite frankly, this would be one of those times back in the old days I would have just skipped an update. But I can't do that anymore. I realize that there are those of you out there waiting for the next page, voting tirelessly. I just can't let you down. So, here's the new page. And while it was rushed, maybe you'll still like it. I hope so. It's just been a helluva week.

BTW: There are new designs and items in the Gnat's Wing store. Go check it out!

4-20-2005

Okay guys (and girls), I've been really busy drawing during the past two days. I've added a picture of the "Cat's Claw", aka "Gnat's Wing II" in the Tech Section. Also, I've got new wallpaper pictures in the art section. So go look at them. Now! Get going!

4-11-2005

Thanks for the voting, everybody. Although we've slipped slightly on TWC to #19, I'm still impressed. Seems like it wasn't that long ago I was struggling to stay in the top 100. You'll notice on the tagboard that I am looking for ideas for vote incentive images. I've heard a couple of ideas so far, but I'd really like to hear from more of you. Think of it as a chance to commission your own GW art work for free!

4-8-2005

I'm going to fill you in on a little secret. I have no idea if page 29 is any good or not. Kinda weird, huh? I can usually tell after I'm done with a page whether I'm satisfied with it or not. But not this time. My wife has been in the hospital since Tuesday, and I've been in this kind of funk since then. Oh, it's not too serious. She had to have a partial hysterectomy. The house has been empty since Tuesday, and I just can't seem to get into anything. So I hope that today's update is acceptable, and I should be back to my old self this weekend.

4-4-2005

Wow, somehow this was the easiest page I've ever done. I just sat down at the art table last night, and POW, there it was. I hope that doesn't mean that the quality is suffering. Some of you are using the new tagboard, and that's great! If you haven't already, feel free to leave a post sometime. By the way, I couldn't help but notice that I've moved to number *19* on Top Web Comics. What else can I say, but THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I really had no idea that Gnat's Wing would be a top contender. You guys (and girls) made it all possible!

3-28-2005

Hey, it's still Monday. Honest! I had the day off from work, but it hardly seemed like a day off. I did 3 loads of laundry, cleaned house, and had a contractor come by to bid on adding A/C to the house. If that wasn't enough, the phone kept ringing every 30 minutes, interrupting me at the art table. GAH! But I finally got it done, so enjoy!

3-20-2005

Whew, I feel like I've given birth! I was laboring over this picture for several hours, basically, Saturday evening, and all day Sunday. Then updating the webpage... this is more work than I thought it would be. But you know what keeps me going? Just knowing that there's a few of you out there sitting on the edge of your seat, waiting for the next installment. I know what it's like. So thank you, my dedicated readers. Oh, and on a personal note... attention dad - it's never too late!

3-18-2005

Another page! Hey you guys and girls, thanks for all the voting! I can't believe we're in the top 40 at Webcomics List. That's fantastic! By the way, I have a new vote incentive page up. I should warn you, that I showed this page to my wife, and she didn't get it. Hopefully it will make sense to you as you read it. That's supposed to be a tumbleweed in the center frame. Oh well.

3-14-2005

Surprise, it's Remy! Well, who'd you think it was going to be, Frank Poole? I'm sorry, I don't think so, Dave. I hope you're all enjoying the story thus far. Now that we've got the gang back together, we're ready to kick it into high gear! Just stay tuned... BTW, thanks for all the voting! You're just the best!

3-11-2005

Gah! Finally. Sorry, it's been a while since I was late. Well, not exactly late. I mean, it is still the 11th. In the United States, anyway. Well, enjoy today's comic! I really appreciate all the voting! This is the best rating we've enjoyed thus far. By the way, my apologies to Paramount for using the space suit design from Enterprise. I was really bummed out that the show is done. Not only is this the end of Enterprise, but pretty much of Star Trek. I hated to see it end, particularly since I felt like Enterprise was the best series yet. Well, I guess four years was a pretty good run.

3-4-2005

You may or may not notice that today's comic has not one stitch of dialog. I did this on purpose for a number of reasons. First, it's fun to break things up a bit. Second, I wanted you, the reader, to get a feel for the layout and scale of the ship. Third, Stancie and Gnat just really don't have anything to say at this point. What occurred to me after I had drawn the page, was that you can only do this with a comic book format. It's difficult to convey a sense of action with out a lot of description or dialog in a written novel. With a comic, you can convey the mood and activity you want using no words at all. That's one of the things I always liked about comics, and manga in particular.

Okay, so about the picture itself; I was really proud of the artwork, until I noticed that the lines showing the movement of Stancie's tail were lost in the reflection of the stars on the glass. Now, instead of looking like her tail is moving, it looks like she has a forked tail. Ah, well. Now I have a drawing of the layout of the Gnat's Wing on my clipboard, so I can maintain continuity throughout the ship. Maybe one of these days I'll get around to posting it in the Tech section. Oh, and yes, that is a FedEx ship. Since I work for FedEx, I thought I'd give them a plug. Who knows, maybe they'll be around in 400 years.

2-25-2005

Okay, here's today's update. I should call it the "all about Stancie" page. Speaking of Stancie, I did a naughty picture of Gnat and Stancie for my friend James, and his readers of "Savvie and Lacey". I wasn't sure whether to post it here, because, to be honest, I'm not really sure what kind of audience I have. Weird, huh? I mean, here I've been doing this for a year and a half, and I have no idea who reads this comic. Well, the picture involves a little playful dominatrix motif. If you have no idea what that means, then forget I mentioned it. If, on the other hand, you're open minded about bondage and latex clothing, then here is a link to the pic on James' site. Enjoy.

2-21-2005

Another on-time update brought to you by the folks at Gnat's Wing. Well, there aren't any folks. Just me. Which brings me to a rather thoughtful update message. I've been thinking a great deal about where Gnat's Wing is going. I don't mean the plot, I know where that's headed for the next few months or so. I mean the comic as a whole. When I started out, I just wanted to entertain people. I felt like I wanted to tell a story that hadn't been told, or maybe not told this way. I wanted to write a comic that I would buy if I was browsing a comic store. I have strange tastes. I like calamari and Cherry Coke. Together. But I digress.

So lately I've become aware that while my artwork has vastly improved (I can't stand to look at some of the older stuff), I realized that I'm never going to be "great", or professional quality. It's not because I don't have the talent. It's because I don't have the desire or the discipline. Truly great manga artists spend hours, weeks, at drawing boards, constantly drawing, constantly perfecting, hoping, someday, they'll make it big. I suppose in a lot of ways, it's like any other performing art. It's a lot of hard work. I just don't want to work that hard. When I do, it will stop being fun for me.

So while some of you may glance at these pages, and think to yourself, "this guy has no talent", I will simply be nodding in agreement with you somewhere. But I have a life outside my artwork. So while I try to get better in little bits and pieces, this is still just a hobby for me. Others of you have been with me since the beginning, and will keep on reading GW as long as I'm fortunate enough to keep drawing. Maybe you even feel like I do, that these are real characters, if only in our collective minds. We laugh when they're goofy, cry when they suffer, always waiting to find out what happens next. Maybe GW will be big someday, but I doubt it. So long as you keep enjoying it, though, I'll keep drawing.

2-18-2005

Hello again. I've been in a good drawing mood lately. I think this is one of my better drawings. I guess it pays off to stay busy. I hope this run will last for a while. Well, I hope you all have been enjoying the new comics as much as I have enjoyed drawing them.

2-14-2005

Happy Valentine's Day! Well, some pictures you feel really good about. Other pictures you just shrug your shoulders and finish them and post them. This is one of the latter. I really hate the last two frames, but if I obsess over every frame, I'd never get anything posted. So there you go.

2-11-2005

First, today is Stancie's big debut on Gnat's Wing. Second, I would like to thank Mike Strasser over at Chicken Wings, for posting, what I believe, is the first link to Gnat's Wing anywhere. If you haven't read Chicken Wings, go, now, and read it! And vote! Speaking of voting, why are we #144?? GO VOTE, now! Or else suffer from bad kharma!

1-21-2005

Well, here's page 9. So I got to thinking, what if people reading this comic for the first time, go back and look at the beginning, and are scared off by the awful artwork of the past? I know, I've had people tell me, leave it, you can tell how your artwork has progressed. Other people have told me that it's a waste of time to go back and redo pages. After all, I've already redone the first five pages once before. But I worry that I'm running people off that go back to the beginning of the story. I guess that's how my neurotic mind works. Well, regardless, I've redone page 1. And it looks fantastic.

1-18-2205

OMG, it's a filler! Run for your life! I know, I know, I swore up and down I'd never use a filler. Here's the deal: I'm running behind (again), and rather than rush to put up Monday's pic late, then rush to get Friday's pic done, I'm going to use Monday's on Friday, and try, yet again, to get ahead so this quits happening. Some of you may have noticed my artwork getting better. I know SOME of you still think that there's a lot of room for improvement (I won't mention any names). But in case you're one of those who think the art is getting better, I'd love to hear from you. Really. So email me, okay? It's been a while since anyone's said anything nice. Okay, so enjoy this little picture of Remy.

1-12-2005

Hey, first blog of the new year! I know, today's comic was supposed to be up on the 10th, and last Monday's comic never showed up. That's because I was in another one of my creativity depraved funks. Fortunately, this one didn't last near as long as any of my previous bouts. I noticed that none of you emailed me wondering where the updates were at. This is either because you were kind enough to wait-and-see without pestering me, you didn't notice that updates were missing, or you just didn't care. If you belong to the latter, you're probably not bothering with reading this page, either.

You may have noticed over the past year or so that Gnat has undergone many changes. Some of them minor, some not so minor. Well, I think I'm finally happy with the way Gnat looks, and this month's vote incentive image is the final incarnation (no, seriously) of the Gnat character. I welcome your comments, provided that they are constructive, and don't involve name-calling. I hope you've all had a great new years, and look forward to providing you with Gnat's Wing in the year ahead.

12-27-2004

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas! I was going to do a cute GW Christmas filler, but I just never quite got around to it. Maybe next year. I did pretty well this year. One of my presents was Sims 2 on DVD. I stayed up till 2am playing last night. Yikes! Well, I haven't missed an update in a long time (knock on wood). I hope you're all enjoying the story so far. I've noticed that some web comics that have been around for a while, the artists complain of writers block, or lack of ideas. I've been pretty fortunate in that department thus far. I usually have the story in my head for the next five or six pages. Also, I have a vague idea mapped out of how the current volume will play out, and I'm already working on ideas for volume 4. So keep reading, and I'll keep writing, so long as we're both having fun.

12-19-2004

2 Quick items: first, I fixed Gnat's arm in page 1. It looked like she'd suffered a spider bite on her right arm and it swelled up. That was really annoying me, so I Photoshopped it up. Okay, now I also have a new picture to replace the old tired picture for Gnat's Wing products. So check out the Gnat's Wing Store, and impress your friends with a Gnat's Wing T-shirt!

12-16-2004

This is the start of Volume 3, and I must say, it is my favorite pic by far. I've been looking back at some of my old art work, and I'm amazed by what I used to think was really good, I now think is utter garbage. Not that I'm by any means professional quality, yet. I still think I have a long way to go; but it's nice to look back and see improvement over the past year. By the way, thanks Tiffany! I guess all those months of kicking me in the ass have paid off.

12-13-2004

First off, the new color scheme. I was tired of the black background, and I wanted something more lively and festive. I think this will work until I find something for Front Page that I can download for free. Okay, next: this is the last page of volume 2. GASP! What's going to happen to Zorah? What about the Wing? Is Ichigo going to join the crew? Do you really think I'm going to give any of that away? Okay, I will tell you that Gnat is getting a new ship. But you already new that, didn't you?

Volume 3 is going to look a little different because I'm ultimately planning on printing it. That's right, when it's all finished, you'll be able to buy your very own printed edition of volume 3. I found a website that prints on-demand at a reasonable price. So if you're wanting a copy, let me know. They should be around $10-$11.

Also, thanks for all the voting! I noticed that Gnat's Wing has been holding a spot in the 60's on TWC. For those of you that read this comic, but haven't been voting, I'd love to see GW make it in the top 50! What can I do for you? I give you a new image every month. I've been updating my comic twice a week. What else can I do? I mean, if you weren't voting because you didn't like the comic, I could understand... is the guilt setting in yet?

12-10-2004

If this is your first visit to Gnat's Wing, welcome! If you've been here before, thanks for coming back!

Some of you may be wondering what all the voting is all about. Well, web comic ranking sites, such as Buzz Comics, and Top Web Comics, are a way for you, the reader, to call special attention to web comics that you enjoy. As comics move up the ranking, they gain more exposure to new readers. Voting is also another way for the readers to tell the artist; "thanks for your hard work, I enjoy your comic and think you deserve some recognition". Diehard voters, who vote every day, can quickly move a web comic out of obscurity, and into popularity. Even if you're not voting for this web comic, please take the time to vote when you visit comics that you enjoy which have a vote button. It's a small way to say "thanks" that web comic artists really appreciate!

11-26-2004

Well, I'm working off of my poor battered laptop, a borrowed monitor, and a USB mouse (the incident smooshed the touchpad keys as well). I managed to finish vol 2 pages 30 and 31, but rather than post them both tonight, I figured I'd save 31 for Monday, so that way I'm actually ahead. I've ordered another laptop, which should get here next week. Wow, what an ordeal.

11-25-2004

Yup, it's me, again. I would like to have updated this site sooner, but I taxied over my laptop three days ago. Ouch!  No, I didn't have any insurance so I guess I need to buy another one. The good news is that only the display was damaged, so I am at least I'm able to recover my files. So other than having to wait for updates, and having to shell out for a new laptop, I guess I made out okay. I should be able to get everything back to normal by tomorrow night. I still have to install FrontPage on my desk top. Once that's done, I should be able to get back to work. Thanks for your patience!

11-20-2004

Well, I finally got Friday's pic finished. I have to tell you that it is the most butchered, cobbled together, picture I've ever done. The top two frames turned out so badly, that I had to redraw them, then scan and paste them onto the bottom frames. After some computer magic, viola! A new comic is born! And even though you wouldn't know it by looking at the original ink drawings, I think it's one of the best pages yet! Well, I guess I am biased. Sorry that it's late, but I've already got a good jump start on Monday's pic, so at least it should be on time.

11-15-2004

I've put some new fan art from Tiffany in the fan art section. She's done some great pics of Remy and Gnat, and now she's given me one of Stancie. In case you haven't been keeping tabs, Stancie is a new character that started from a doll that Tiffany and I collaborated on. If you want to see how Stancie evolved, check out Tiffany's website. By the way, I don't think I mentioned it before, but I also wanted to thank Tiffany for coloring my website buttons for me.

Now you're all wondering who's Stancie, right? Well, hang in there, and you'll find out! I've been wanting to add a new character for some time, and I am a huge fan of catgirls! Unfortunately for me, about the same time I was coming up with the idea for Stancie, Anime Arcadia sprang into being, and started the catgirl craze at Top Web Comics. Oh well, so much for being different. Anyhow, Stancie will be making her debut in Volume 3, so stay tuned.

11-12-2004

Wow, haven't written anything in here for a while. does anybody even read this stuff? Anyways... I've decided to shift the update schedule to make it easier for me to remember. Now this is a win-win for everybody. I'm going to start doing updates on Monday and Friday. This makes it easier for me because I don't have to count on my fingers "when's the next update due again?" This is better for you if you're a Gnat's Wing fan, because it means slightly more frequent updates. And if you're not a fan of Gnat's Wing, what the heck are you doing here any way? So here's Friday's page, I hope you all enjoy. Oh crap, gotta go put the garbage out! BTW: thanks for all the votes this month! Keep it up!

10-29-2004

Oh no! A filler? Gah! Okay, yeah, it's a filler. So sue me. I did this drawing 3 days ago, and I was hoping to hear back from James LiGate of "Savvie and Lacey" as to whether he was going to post it on his site. Well, he hasn't gotten back to me yet, so I wanted my readers to see it. And I'm just not q-u-i-t-e done with the next page yet. So be patient.

10-23-2004

I got another fan letter from another Savvie and Lacey reader. No offense to the rest of you loyal GW fans, but so far the Savvie and Lacey readers have written me the nicest fan mail so far! I really appreciate the kind email. I have also added some pictures in "The Cast" section. You'll notice that the 3 view picture of Gnat is mysteriously absent. That's because I'm not entirely happy with it. Go figure, Gnat is the focus of the comic, but she's been the hardest one for me to draw.

Okay, a lot of you are wondering who Stancie is. Well, she's the chief engineer on the Cat's Claw, duh! Seriously, you'll just have to wait for volume III to see how Stancie comes to join Gnat and Remy. Ooooh, what a tease, huh?

10-13-2004

I'm sorry about being late, again. I fell into a pit of anxiety and psuedo-depression over the weekend. When I get that way, I don't feel like doing anything at all, especially artwork. The good news is that these bouts seem to be less frequent, and shorter in duration. My ideal goal would be to get a couple of pages ahead so that when these moods hit, I can still get the pages out on time. I'm getting closer, just not quite there yet.

10-4-2004

The 50th page is posted today! Woo hoo! Now, I've noticed that there are, on average, 20-30 hits per day on this site. And yet nobody votes. Is it because this comic is that terrible? Then why do you keep coming back? And why are you reading this? Go vote, now! Thank you. ^.^

10-1-2004

Have you been to Topwebcomics lately? The number 1 comic is stickman. Stickman! What is wrong with the universe? Okay, my artwork isn't as good as a lot of comics out there, but Stickman? C'mon, I want to see some more votes. It doesn't cost you anything. I've made it easy for you. Don't you think this comic is better than Stickman?

9-28-2004

Hello again. This time I'm early on the update, so hopefully that makes up for the last late update. One other note, if you think this comic "stinks" or the artwork is "poor", please don't email me any more suggesting I should "take some art classes". Maybe you think you're being helpful, maybe you're just plain mean, I don't care which it is. These types of emails are not constructive, and I rather you spent your energy registering Democrat voters, or saving the whales, or whatever.

9-25-2004

Yikes! A day late again. Sigh. You may notice that Gnat is starting to look a little different. No, I don't have a guest artist. In fact, I don't even really know any other web comic artists, and none of them have offered to do a guest strip. I've actually been working with Tiffany to fine tune Gnat's look. This pic isn't exactly what I was going for, but page 21 will be the final product. I hope you like the direction my art work is going. I'd love to hear from you with regards to what you like about this site, and what you'd like to see different.

9-6-2004

If you are a REAL fan of Gnat's Wing, then you are one of the few people that read this page. You also probably vote once in a while and pay attention to updates, etc. Well, I have added a new picture of the "real" Remy Tulyare (a 1/6 scale doll masterfully crafted by Tiffany Hall) in the CAST page. To see the pic, click on the thumbnail in the Remy section.

9-2-2004

I've added a Paypal donation link at the top of the home page. Please feel free to contribute if you have some extra cash laying around that you don't know what to do with. Markers and pens get expensive after a while, and I maintain my own website, as well.

Also, I've cleaned up the home page considerably. By the way, September is a brand new month, and I haven't seen many people voting. Remember, if Gnat's Wing gets into the top 50 at Top Web Comics, I vow to update new pages every 4 days! If we get to the top 20, then I'll update every 3 days! C'mon, it doesn't cost you anything to vote. You can vote once a day. Heck, if you just voted every time you looked for an update I'd be happy! That's only 6 votes a month. You can vote 6 times a month, can't you?

8-25-2004

Wow, what a crazy past couple of weeks! I got back from "vacation" and brought with us my wife's daughter, son-in-law, and two grandkids, ages 3 and 4. So we now have a very full house and very little personal space. Which means that I have to carve out some quiet time at night to get my coloring done. The good news is that I'm back in my groove, and updates should (crossing my fingers here) be on time. I have pages 15 and 16 already inked, and I'm getting a lot more done while I'm at work.

The background colors in this page are not what I really had in mind. I have to admit that it was a rush job. I was so depressed after I posted the last page (13) because the last panel looked so awful. I was trying to make Gnat look shocked, but somehow her head shrunk instead. I was just not in the mood at all for drawing for quite a while. I think this latest update is one of my best profile pictures. Hopefully I'll stay in my rhythm for some time to come. I want to thank all of you for your continued support and readership. Thanks for making Gnat's Wing such a success!

8-2-2004

I know what a lot of you have been thinking. Where are the updates? Right? Well, I've been on vacation since the 26th, and I was hoping to have access to a scanner when I got here. I'm sorry to say that hasn't materialized. I've gotten a couple of pages inked, I just need to wait until I get back home to color them in. Rest assured that regular updates will resume when I get back.

On an semi-related note: this is a new month for voting. Why is voting so important to us web comic authors, you ask? Well, I haven't asked you for money, but your vote is extremely important to me. Here's why: when you vote regularly, Gnat's Wing moves up in the ranking. When that happens, more people notice the comic and read it. As readership grows, so should the votes. Eventually Gnat's Wing will be high enough in the ranking that I'll feel really good about readership and make an effort to shorten the times between updates. Sounds like bribery, you say? Well, it is. If you guys (and girls) can keep Gnat's Wing in the top 50 at Top Web comics (TWC, the blue one) for an entire month, then I'll update the page every 4 days. In the top 20, I'll find a way to update it every 3 days! I've made it easy for you. Just click the rank button. It opens in a new window. Just vote and close. Piece of cake. I'll even give you an incentive image. Right now I'm working on a Gnat's Wing wallpaper. So get out there and vote. Remember, you can vote once per day!

7-22-2004

Some of you may wonder why I've been updating so late at night on the day of the update. Well, let me tell you why. I typically sketch and ink within 3 days of completing an update. This leaves the coloring in, which I can only do at home, since I can't pack around 140 markers. Besides which, the altitude does nasty things to pressurized pens and markers. So, by the time I get home, it's like, 6:30 in the evening, and lately it's been in the 90's. Inside the house (we don't have A/C) it's anywhere between 80-90. It's just too dang hot to sit at my art table, so I usually don't start coloring until 9:00. Well, there you go.

7-15-2004

Sorry I got a little behind on this update. I took a little break from the comic to hone my drawing skills on Gnat and Remy portrait pictures. Which by the way, you've seen if you've been doing any voting over the past week. Haven't been voting? Well, they'll come back into circulation on the voting images, I'm sure. So hopefully you will find that the artwork is improving over the next few pages. I'm trying out some different things, so if you see something you like/ don't like, please email me and let me know. Now rather than penalize you nice fans by making you wait another 5 days, I'm going to put the next page (11) on schedule for 7-17. Enjoy!

6-17-2004

I hope you like the bonus magazine "cover". I was originally going to use this image as an incentive image for voting, but I decided it was just too cool to hide away on the voting sites. This brings me to a point I wanted to make a long time ago. Some web comics use filler images in place of the regular updates. I promise you if I use a filler, it will be included with the regular update, and never in place of. The way I figure it, if you've got time to do a filler, why didn't you do the regular story update?

6-12-2004

I'm sorry to keep you waiting so long for this update. I think I've figured out what my problem was. I was going 2 or 3 days without drawing anything, then one day I'd go, "crap, I really need to do an update". So I'd sit for hours to crank out a new page. Well, then I'd be burnt out, and not draw anything again for days. Well, I got tired of being burnt out on drawing, so I just quit. Well, I discovered this week that it is much more enjoyable if I just pace myself better. I found that by drawing a little bit every day, I was taking the pressure off of myself to perform at the last minute.

So I have been using this time to do two (that's right, page 5 is done, but you can't have it until the 17th!) new GW episodes. So here's my new new plan. I'm going to work on page 6, 7, etc. and post a new page every 5 days. That way, I have an extra page or two in the hopper, and you'll know there's a new page coming, and when. If I can get several pages ahead, then I may change the update frequency to every 4 days. Hopefully this makes everybody breathe easier. By the way, I want to thank all of you for NOT sending me nasty emails wondering when this site will be updated again. I have heard that this happens to other web comic artists, but I have yet to receive one myself. So THANKS!

Now, about voting. I've noticed that only one or two of you are actually voting, even though this page regularly gets 20-30 hits per day. Okay, fine, but... I've made a few incentive images. The only way to see them is by voting. Devious, huh? Those of you who have already voted have seen the Gnat image. If you're just now voting, you'll get the new image. I'm going to put them in rotation so if you missed any prior images, they'll go back into circulation after the last one. Now, you're not going to know when I'm rotating them, so if you really want them all, you'll have to vote every few days or so. That's really devious, huh? Well, it's just my way of rewarding the true Gnat's Wing fans.

5-30-2004

I haven't updated in a long time because I've been in a funk with my art work. In flight instruction, we call it the learning plateau. Which, in real terms, means I haven't been seeing my artwork getting any better in a while. This has caused me personal angst, which in turn means I haven't been drawing as much, which in turn means I haven't been getting any practice. The only way to combat the learning plateau, is to just keep beating your head against the ceiling until it gives way. So I just need to "get back to the drawing board" (pun intended).

So, that having been said, I intend to kick myself in the rear and do more drawing. Maybe the joy will come back. I certainly hope so. If you are a comic author and you find yourself reading this, I would be curious to know if you've ever found yourself in a similar predicament; and if so, how you combat it. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoy today's installment. I hate the way some elements of the drawing have turned out, but hopefully I'll do better next time.

By the way... you "really can" name a star after yourself or somebody else at Star Registry. Whether or not it will have the same name after 300 years is unlikely. And what if somebody else already lives there? Seems like a waste of $54 to me.

5-22-2004

I've fixed Volume 2 Page 1 the way it was meant to look. I think you'll agree that it makes more sense now.

5-20-2004

Has this ever happened to you: you give the hostess at a restaurant your name, only to have her butcher it over the PA 20 minutes later? My dad was so tired of spelling Rockhold for people, (I know, tough, huh?) that he gave the girl his first name, Dan. Well, you guessed it. She asked him how to spell it.

5-18-2004

Wow! I can't believe how fast we hit 1000! I checked the counter yesterday, and it was only 930. That's 70 hits in one day! What else can I say, but thank you, thank you, thank you! Each of you who visit this site is the reason why I keep at it. Now, with that said, I hate fillers as much as you do, but page 2 isn't quite done yet. So hang in there.

5-12-2004

Today's page speaks to what I would consider one of life's greatest mysteries; why do women wear revealing clothing, and get mad when men stare? While we may never know the answer, I hope you enjoy today's comic.

5-8-2004

Hello again! Well, page 28 is finally up. I've also replaced the original page 5 with the new page 5 I had drawn ages ago. Yes, this is the last page of Volume I. Which means, If I get busy coloring, we'll have the first page of Volume II by Wednesday. I would like to thank you all for checking out the Comics Day website (and if you haven't yet, get over there!). There are many other talented web comics listed there. I'm leaving the OCD comic on the home page through Wed., then we'll be back to normal. Thanks also to those of you who have taken the time to drop me some email. I love reading all of it!

5-5-2004

To the loyal fans of GW, this update is nothing new. Today IS Online Comics Day, so I had to spruce the place up for the occasion. Rest assured, there are new comics in the works, and I am beginning to experiment with actual animation. If it turns out well, you'll be the first to see it. If it turns out badly, I shall never speak of it again. Page 28 should be up by Friday, and I'm doing one more tribute to another comic. Also, I've laid the groundwork for Volume II. I'm not giving away any secrets, but it'll be very exciting! Stay tuned!

5-2-2004

Greetings yet again! You'll notice in our newest installment that Schlock from "Schlock Mercenary" appears on the wall poster behind Gnat. Thanks to Howard Tayler for allowing me to borrow him. If you haven't checked out Schlock Mercenary, you really should! I've also added a link to my friend James LiGate at Savvie and Lacey.

I have to tell you that I really despised the way the last frame turned out on page 27. I'm not sure what happened to Remy's shoulders. They just kind of disappeared. In case you're wondering what's so special about the fourth frame, Remy is raising her eyebrow with that look of "you're out of your freakin' mind". Did you catch it?

I was on a web comic forum the other day, when one of the moderators of the forum informed me that my comic was "unimaginative, lacked talent, and was poorly written". Well, I took it pretty hard, at first. I mean, I know I'm not a professional artist, but could I really stink that bad? Well, it wasn't until he further added that I "hadn't improved in [my] artistic ability in seven months". Well, then it occurred to me that he didn't have a clue what he was talking about. While I'll be the first to admit that I'm not an artistic genius, I certainly have improved since I first started drawing. You have only to look at the early picture of Remy in the "Gnat's Wing Art" section to see that. And if you're still not convinced, go to my Yahoo Group

Then I started thinking, what if Gnat told this nutcase off in a comic? What would she have to say? Well, the result is today's first comic, which I think is funny. To those of you who think "Gnat's Wing" is a lousy comic, why don't you go read something else. I really don't care. To those of you who enjoy this comic, I would like to thank you for your loyal readership. Rest assured, I'll keep drawing.

I would like to apologize in advance for a slow down in updates for the story in the up coming week. I have been working on my very special series of comics for Web Comics Day 2004, which is May 5. What is WCA? Well, it is essentially a gathering of comic artist who do special stories highlighting the web comic community. It is designed to generate interest in web comics as a whole, and is an opportunity for artists to showcase their talent. I will have more info concerning WCA2004 in the upcoming week, so stay tuned!

I can hear you now, where have the updates gone?? Well, let me tell ya... life has a way of demanding time for other stuff sometimes. By the way, I've been in Anchorage, Alaska for the past week for work. If you want to see some pics I took, you can check them out http://av8r402.deviantart.com/gallery/ . Also, I'd like to give a shout out to Neil, in Anchorage, who encouraged me to get back to work. Thanks, Neil, I'll do my best!

Yikes! There was no update on Sunday, I know. Sorry. I am hoping I can make up for it over the next few days with upcoming additions. I have also finished laying out the comic for Web Comic Awareness Day, which is on May 5th. I'll have a preview of that comic up this weekend. I hope it will be worth the wait.

2-18-2004

Pages 18 and 19 are now in color. Page 20 is brand new. Stay tuned this weekend to find out what happens to Gnat.

2-11-2004

The second comic this week is black and white. Why? Because I've gotten lazy? No. Because I've been short on time this week and I thought you could handle black and white until I get time to color it. So there. I'll try to get ahead so this doesn't happen again, ok?

2-8-2004

You'll notice a few changes if you navigate around the site. I've added navigation buttons on the volume archive pages, and put the current comic on the front page. I've also gone back to cutting my scans at 800 pixel height instead of 600. I felt this offered a better level of detail. At some point I'll go back to page 16 and readjust the pixel height. I've also committed myself to updating twice a week. Yikes! I've discovered that I can ink and color faster than I used to, and I thought you might like more frequent updates. Well, enjoy.

Hard to believe January has come and gone. Well, as promised, a brand new page today! Yea! Okay, time to get back to the drawing board...

1-29-2004

Hello everybody! I have decided to do things just a little bit differently with the new updates. Oh, stop groaning, it's not going to hurt! Instead of making everybody wait until the old pages are redrawn to do the new pages, I have decided to post one new page to the end of the storyline each week. This will be done on Sunday afternoon, come snow, rain, sleet, you get the idea. In addition, I will continue to redraw the first 15 pages at my leisure, probably two per week.

Now don't panic, this isn't going to change the story line. It's just that I didn't like the look of the first pages, and those old black pleather seats on the flight deck had to go. I much prefer the aqua foam padded seats. Now you'll notice that page 15 is black and white. Gasp! This is because I had this page drawn before I decided to go back and redraw. I wanted to go ahead and let you see it, but I didn't bother coloring it since it's in the old format (margins are different, panels are numbered). So from page 16 on will be the new stuff. Now if you see page numbers change, don't stress. It's just because I've inserted new pages as I went along. Again, this will not affect the story line. Think of it as "previously deleted scenes", if that helps. Everybody okay?

So, what's new today? Well, page 4 is new, bumping up the other pages. There is a new tech cross-section page, and page 15 is new. There. Whew!

1-27-2004

Okay, congratulations on finding the new updates page! Look here from now on to see what's happening with the comic. The new page 3 has been uploaded, and I expect to have page 4 tomorrow. There is also a new "Tech" section where I will be posting technical information about ships and weapons in the Gnat's Wing universe. I have also added a link to "Schlock Mercenary" which I encourage all of you to check out. It's a very funny comic.

1-24-2004

Well, page 2 is redone at long last! For those of you who have been following my comic for a while, you may need to "refresh" volume I pages 1 and 2 to see the new pictures. I have decided to also go ahead and post the original page 14 tomorrow since it's pretty much drawn anyway. I think the new pages will be worth the wait, so hang in there!

1-20-2004

Welcome Gnat's Wing fans! Since I've listed this comic at Belfry Comics Index, the web hits are starting to rack up. With that in mind, I have decided to redraw the first 13 pages. The bad news is that this means you'll have to wait a little while longer for updates. The good news is that I've already finished page 1, and I should be able to complete a page every two days. So please be patient!

I think (hope) this will result in a better comic, and hopefully hook all of you who have yet to experience Gnat's Wing. I really would like to create a quality comic that I hope you will all enjoy. If you have any comments or suggestions, PLEASE email me at AV8R402@yahoo.com. I would love to hear from you!
